James said, “You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only” (James 2:24).

Peter told men what to do to be forgiven. “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38).
Paul wrote, “You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace” (Galatians 5:4).
Peter wrote, “Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble” (2 Peter 1:10).
Jesus said some receive the seed of truth, but when “tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles” (Matthew 13:21).
Paul was told, “And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16).
Peter wrote, “There is also an antitype which now saves us – baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Paul wrote that baptism is how we put on Christ. “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Galatians 3:27).
