Solomon is a puzzling Old Testament figure. He reigned over a glorious nation, had great wisdom and wealth, but was a pagan idolater for part of his life. His live contains many lessons for us, including an epic account of his request for wisdom early in his life. We can learn much from this story in 1 Kings 3, including fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, seek first the kingdom of God, and the responsibility to use our gifts for the Lord and His people.
