What does it mean to be part of a local church — and why does it matter? In this lesson, we explore how the local body of believers is a fundamental part of God's plan of salvation. From the early churches established in Corinth, Ephesus, Philippi, and beyond, Scripture makes clear that Christians are meant to be identified with and committed to a local congregation. Drawing from Romans 12:3–8, we look at what it means to be "members of one another" — how each person brings different gifts, functions, and abilities that serve the body as a whole. Whether it's teaching, encouraging, giving, leading, or showing mercy, no part is unnecessary. We also discuss the humility, mutual responsibility, and love that hold a congregation together, and how every Christian can use the gifts God has given them.
