Israel’s victories at Jericho and Ai compelled the Gibeonites to make an alliance with them. Though it was formed by deception, Israel honored their covenant to defend and protect Gibeon when five other kings attacked. In Joshua 10 we see Israel’s defense in the midst of which, we read one of the most amazing miracles in the Bible — the day the sun stood still. We see God working with man and the victory He delivers for His people.
