Romans (13b): chapter 12:10-13:3

What does it look like when faith hits the ground in everyday life? In this study, Paul fires off a series of exhortations that leave no area of life untouched — diligence in service, rejoicing in hope, patience in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer, generosity toward the saints, and hospitality toward strangers. He then pushes into the hardest territory: bless those who persecute you, rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep, and overcome evil with good rather than taking vengeance into your own hands. Without pausing, Paul connects this directly to our duty toward government — submit to governing authorities as appointed by God, understanding that resisting them is resisting God’s ordinance, while recognizing that obedience to God always comes first.

Scripture References: Romans 13:1-3, Romans 12:10-21
