They are well known for knocking on your front door — but how well do you know what they actually teach? In this lesson, we trace the Jehovah’s Witnesses from their roots in the failed prophecies of the Adventist movement through the founding of the Watch Tower Society by Charles Taze Russell. We examine their elaborate plan of salvation and compare it with the simplicity of the New Testament pattern. We then address their most distinctive doctrinal errors: the denial of Christ’s deity, the reduction of the Holy Spirit to an impersonal force, the claim that the soul ceases to exist at death, the teaching that only 144,000 will go to heaven while the rest live on a paradise earth, and the denial of a literal hell. Each is measured against the Scriptures.
