CloseIsrael’s conquest of Canaan was long and hard, but it was accomplished (Josh. 21:43-45). There were many battles in which the major strongholds were taken with some work left to be done by individual tribes. Israel was successful in conquering the Promised Land because they stuck together and, mainly, they remained faithful to the Lord (cf. Judges 2:7). In Joshua 22 we see where the people had religious zeal, but a misunderstanding arose. After a discussion about the situation, peace and unity in the Lord prevailed. Thus, this chapter contains several good lessons for us.
