Saul started as a humble man and could not understand why the desire of Israel was on him (1 Sam. 9:20, 21). Sadly, he did not stay humble, but became obsessed with power, glory, and control. These are things that can enslave a man; things that we must avoid. This lesson on Saul’s love of self and power serves as a warning to us.
