The organization of a local congregation is revealed in God’s word. Simply put, there are “bishops” and “deacons” along with the saints (Philippians 1:1). Preachers work with congregations, and may serve as a “bishop” (i.e. elder, shepherd) like Peter did (1 Peter 5:1-4). The organization of the churches of men violate the New Testament pattern and are to be rejected by those who respect the inspired word (Matthew 15:7-9).
