Romans (11b): chapter 10:14-21

How can they call on Him in whom they have not believed? In this study of Romans 10:14-21, we trace Paul's chain of reasoning about the necessity of preaching — to call, one must believe; to believe, one must hear; to hear, someone must be sent. We consider the responsibilities this places on the church and on each of us individually. We also confront a sobering reality: Israel heard the gospel, understood it, and still rejected it. Yet the chapter closes with a striking image of God stretching out His hands all day long to a disobedient people — a picture of divine patience that should both encourage and convict us.
