There are no bounds to the lengths men will go to deny the rule of God in their lives. In this lesson, we trace the roots of Unitarian Universalism from the overreaction against Calvinism in 18th-century New England to its modern merger in 1961. We examine its core beliefs — the rejection of the Godhead, universal salvation for all mankind, the denial of hell, and the redefinition of sin as simply failing to reach one’s potential — and answer each from the Scriptures. We also address the UUA’s embrace of LGBTQ+ ideology and its joint statement with other denominations declaring transgender identity to be holy, measuring these claims against what Genesis and Romans plainly teach.
